About Main Street

A two-minute walk from even the furthest committee rooms, HenMUN delegates and advisors are encouraged to take advantage of Downtown Newark, which includes the University of Delaware campus and surrounding area. This district was named a "Great American Main Street" in 2011 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

This area includes over 50 locations to eat during the conference, all located no more than three blocks from committee buildings. From fancier Italian and pub restaurants, to faster Chinese, Mexican, and subs restaurants, there is something for all tastes at any time of day. Most stores will deliver during lunch, dinner, and late night breaks from committee.

Aside from restaurants, there are ample locations to shop for school and health supplies. Various bookstores and discount stores will have highlighters, pens, binders, and any other last minute supplies delegates need for committee. Convenience stores and chain pharmacies are also present to allow delegates and advisors to purchase medications and other health products should the need arise.

A detailed, up-to-date map and guide of the area can be found here. Note that the University of Delaware campus and the committee buildings are located between S. College Ave. and Academy St. near Amstel Ave. at the bottom-center of the map linked above.

Note that a dining guide is also provided in our conference guide, which is provided to all delegates and advisors upon arrival at HenMUN.
